Wydad Casablanca midfielder Hamza Sakhi has publicly voiced his frustration after being sidelined by the club, saying he is struggling to understand a situation that has left him excluded from first-team activities since the start of the season.

The 29-year-old took to social media to address his absence from the professional group, revealing his disappointment at not being involved in training sessions, pre-season matches or training camps, despite insisting that his commitment to the club remains unchanged.

In a message shared on his Instagram Story, Sakhi said:
“Today, I feel the need to speak frankly. I’m experiencing a situation within the club that I find difficult to understand. Currently, I’m no longer fully participating in training, nor am I taking part in preseason matches or training camps. This situation is difficult to cope with, especially when you’re committed, motivated, and attached to this club. I want to assure you that my commitment, my dedication, and my desire to represent these colors have never wavered. I continue to work hard, remain professional, and stay hopeful. Thank you for your support, respect, and understanding. Football is also a human story, and sometimes certain situations go beyond the pitch.”

The statement underlines the growing tension between the player and the Casablanca-based club, where Sakhi has found himself frozen out of the squad.

His message also emphasised his emotional attachment to Wydad and its supporters, while appealing for understanding as he navigates what he described as a difficult personal and professional period.

However, reports circulating around the club suggest that Wydad’s stance may be linked to events during the recent transfer window.

According to information shared by the specialised account Wydad Time, the club’s management believes the relationship deteriorated after Sakhi rejected an initial proposal from the club, before requesting improved personal terms and later seeking to leave.

The same source alleges that the midfielder’s actions complicated Wydad’s transfer plans, claiming he attempted to discourage certain potential signings from joining the club.

These accusations, while not addressed directly by Sakhi in his statement, have added to speculation surrounding his future.

Sakhi, who has previously played for clubs including FC Metz, AJ Auxerre, Sochaux and Ajaccio, now finds himself at the centre of an increasingly public dispute.

While the player maintains that he remains professional and committed, the lack of clarity over his role has fuelled debate among supporters.

For now, Wydad have not publicly responded to Sakhi’s remarks. As the season progresses, his situation highlights the often fragile balance between sporting decisions, contractual negotiations and personal relationships within elite football.
