Moroccan Football Team Gathers in Lisbon for African Cup of Nations Preparation
The Moroccan national football team is set to regroup in Lisbon on May 7, as part of its preparations for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Morocco will host at the beginning of next year.
The Atlas Lions will be led by newly appointed coach Badou Zaki, who will oversee the training camp as the team intensifies its efforts to secure success on home soil. The technical staff, under Zaki’s guidance, recently met with the president of the national teams’ committee to discuss the logistical needs for the camp, including the team’s upcoming friendly matches against Mozambique and Angola.
The friendly encounters will offer Zaki and his staff the opportunity to fine-tune the squad’s tactics and gauge player fitness ahead of the continental tournament. The technical team’s focus will be on preparing the squad both physically and mentally for the demands of AFCON, ensuring the players are sharp and well-coordinated for the challenges ahead.
On the same day, the sporting director of the Moroccan Football Federation traveled to Lisbon to finalize the organizational aspects of the training camp. This includes ensuring that all arrangements for accommodation, facilities, and the implementation of the technical preparation program are in place. The camp will serve as an essential foundation for Morocco’s ambitions in the 2015 African Cup of Nations, with the added pressure of playing on home soil.
With the tournament approaching fast, the Moroccan squad is eager to build a solid team dynamic and prove themselves as serious contenders in next year’s AFCON, which promises to be a highly competitive event.
