Morocco striker Abderrazak Hamdallah reveals Al-Taawoun ambitions after move  

Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah has outlined his ambitions for the new season after completing a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Taawoun.

The experienced forward is set to begin his ninth consecutive season in the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Taawoun becoming his fourth club in the competition after previous spells with Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab. He also featured briefly for Al-Hilal during last year’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign.

Hamdallah arrives at Al-Taawoun with an impressive record in Saudi football, having lifted the Saudi Pro League title twice — once with Al-Nassr and again with Al-Ittihad.

The 34-year-old is also closing in on becoming the league’s all-time leading scorer. Having already registered 156 goals in the competition, Hamdallah is only five goals away from matching the record held by Syrian forward Omar Al-Somah.

Speaking about his objectives for the upcoming campaign, Hamdallah expressed confidence in Al-Taawoun’s ability to challenge the biggest clubs in Saudi Arabia and compete on the continental stage.

“Especially the continental championship. Although it will be coveted by many clubs, including Al-Taawoun, we will fight for it. Why not win it and represent Saudi football in the best possible way?” Hamdallah said.

The Moroccan forward believes Al-Taawoun have assembled a competitive squad capable of challenging for trophies, adding that the team’s mentality and determination will be key throughout the season.

Hamdallah also provided an update on the club’s pre-season preparations, explaining that the ongoing training camp has been important in building both physical fitness and team unity ahead of the new campaign.

“Thank God, we have made significant progress in our preparations, and God willing, we will be ready,” he said.

With his experience, goalscoring record and ambition to make history, Hamdallah will be expected to lead Al-Taawoun’s attack as the club aims to compete domestically and make a strong impact in the AFC Champions League.
