Morocco star Ismael Saibari left out of Bayern Munich’s Asia tour squad

Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari has been left out of Bayern Munich’s squad for the club’s pre-season tour of Asia, delaying his first opportunity to feature for the German champions following his summer move from PSV Eindhoven.

Saibari joined Bayern in a high-profile transfer reportedly worth around €55 million and was expected to be among the players involved in the club’s preparations for the new season. However, the midfielder did not travel with the squad as Bayern continue to carefully manage his fitness.

According to reports, the 24-year-old has remained in Munich, where he is following an individual training programme under the supervision of the club’s medical and coaching staff.

The decision forms part of Bayern’s cautious approach to the player’s physical condition, with the club keen to ensure he reaches full fitness before making his competitive debut.

Saibari is not the only player absent from the tour. Bayern have also left Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and promising youngster Lennart Karl in Germany, with all four players currently working on personalised fitness and recovery programmes.

While his omission means fans will not see him in action during the Asia trip, there is optimism that the wait for his debut will not be a long one.

If his rehabilitation and conditioning continue as planned, Saibari could make his first appearance for Bayern Munich in the club’s pre-season friendly against RB Leipzig on August 15.

The Moroccan international arrives at Bayern with a growing reputation after impressing for PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie and on the European stage. His ability to operate in multiple attacking and midfield roles made him one of the Bundesliga champions’ priority targets during the transfer window.
