Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi has revealed his football idol after being recognized as the world’s best right-back by Score 90.
In an interview with beIN Sports, the 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender expressed his gratitude for the prestigious title and how it drives him to achieve even more.
“It’s an incredible feeling to be seen as the best right-back in the world,” said Hakimi. “It shows people notice my hard work, and that only makes me want to push myself further.”
Despite the accolade, Hakimi acknowledged the high level of competition in his position.
“There are so many amazing players in this position,” he said.
“Jules Koundé is on fire for Barcelona, Trent Alexander-Arnold is a standout player for Liverpool, and I always keep an eye on Kyle Walker’s performances.”
When asked about his football inspiration, the former Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan player named Brazilian and Real Madrid legend Marcelo as his hero.
“Marcelo has always been my hero,” he admitted. “He played on the left, but his style, flair, and love for the game shaped how I play today.”
Hakimi, who recently extended his contract with PSG until 2029, has already secured three consecutive Ligue 1 titles, three Trophée des Champions, and one Coupe de France during his time at the club.
