Morocco star Achraf Hakimi hails Luis Enrique’s impact at Paris Saint Germain
Morocco international Achraf Hakimi has heaped praise on Luis Enrique for transforming the mentality and culture at Paris Saint-Germain as the team gears ahead of the club’s highly anticipated UEFA Champions League final.
Speaking during PSG’s open training session on Wednesday evening, attended by several European media outlets, the Moroccan international highlighted the remarkable impact Enrique has had since taking charge of the Parisian side.
According to Hakimi, the former Spain coach has completely reshaped the atmosphere within the squad and fostered a stronger sense of unity among the players.
“Luis Enrique has transformed Paris Saint-Germain and changed the entire club’s mentality,” Hakimi said in comments reported by Sky Sport Italia. “We are a family; we play for each other, and this is evident on the pitch.”
The attacking full-back explained that the renewed team spirit introduced by Enrique has been one of the major reasons behind PSG’s impressive European campaign this season. The French giants have displayed consistency, discipline, and togetherness throughout the competition, qualities that have helped them secure a place in the Champions League final.
Hakimi also spoke glowingly about his personal relationship with Enrique, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work under the experienced coach.
“I think I’m lucky to be on this team, playing with these players, and with this coach,” he stated. “Playing for this club makes me feel like a lucky player.”
The Moroccan defender further revealed that Enrique has significantly influenced his development both technically and mentally. Hakimi noted that the Spanish manager encouraged him to adapt his playing style and understand different tactical responsibilities on the pitch.
“He gave me many things I didn’t know before, and made me change my mentality, both in terms of playing style and how I position myself in different roles than I was used to,” Hakimi explained.
The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan defender concluded by emphasizing the profound effect Enrique has had on his career and personal growth.
“I think he made me a better player, and a better person too,” Hakimi added, underlining the strong bond between player and coach ahead of PSG’s biggest match of the season.
Hakimi had recently been sidelined after suffering an injury during the first leg of PSG’s Champions League semi-final clash. However, recent reports suggest the Moroccan star is close to regaining full fitness, with growing optimism surrounding his availability for the European final.
