Morocco set for Group A opener as AFCON 2025 match calendar confirmed

Morocco will begin their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign on Sunday, 21 December, when they face Comoros in the opening round of Group A, with the full schedule for the group now confirmed.

Group A brings together hosts Morocco alongside Comoros, Mali, and Zambia, with matches split between Rabat and Casablanca across three matchdays.

The fixtures will shape the early narrative of the tournament as teams compete for progression from a group that promises intensity and balance.

The opening day will feature two fixtures across two cities. Morocco will launch the tournament against Comoros at 8:00 pm at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, where home support will provide a strong backdrop for the hosts.

Earlier that day, Mali will take on Zambia at 3:00 pm at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, a match that could set the tone for qualification hopes within the group.

Action will resume on Friday, 26 December, with another double-header. Morocco will return to the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium to face Mali in a high-profile encounter scheduled for 9:00 pm.

That fixture could prove decisive in determining control of the group. In Casablanca, Zambia will meet Comoros at 6:30 pm at the Mohammed V Sports Complex, with both sides aiming to stay firmly in contention.

The final round of Group A matches will take place on Monday, 29 December.

Morocco will close their group campaign against Zambia at 8:00 pm in Rabat, while Mali will face Comoros at the same time in Casablanca.

These simultaneous kick-offs will ensure a dramatic conclusion as teams chase qualification places.

Morocco will play all three of their group matches at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, while the Mohammed V Sports Complex will host the remaining fixtures involving Mali, Zambia, and Comoros.
