Morocco has booked their place at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup after reaching the semi-finals of the 2025 CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This follows a narrow 1-0 victory over Sierra Leone in the quarter-final stage of the ongoing U20 AFCON in Egypt.
In Monday’s quarter-final clash between Morocco and Sierra Leone, both national teams put up a strong display in a bid to secure victory.
Despite the numerous chances created in 90 minutes, neither side could find the back of the net.
Morocco found the breakthrough in the extra time courtesy of an own goal from Amara Keita.
The narrow victory is enough to propel Morocco to the semi-finals of the U20 AFCON and also qualifies the country for the U20 FIFA World Cup scheduled for September this year.
In addition to Morocco, Nigeria and Egypt have also qualified for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup. The winner of the other quarter-final match between South Africa and DR Congo will also qualify for the World Cup.
