Morocco right-back Mohamed Aanane rejoins COD Meknes on free transfer

Morocco right-back Mohamed Aanane has joined COD Meknes from Wydad Fes on a free transfer, returning to the club he previously represented.

The 28-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June 2028. Aanane’s move was completed on 1 August 2026, strengthening COD Meknes’ defensive options ahead of the new Botola Pro Inwi campaign.

Aanane returns to Meknes after spending the 2024-25 season with Wydad Fes. He joined Wydad from COD Meknes on a free transfer on 22 August 2024, having initially moved to Meknes from Beni Mellal the previous year.

The defender’s latest recorded performances include six appearances in the Excellence Cup, where he scored once, and six appearances in the Coupe du Trone Marocaine, where he registered one assist. He has also been listed as a COD Meknes player for the club’s Botola Pro Inwi squad.

Born in Fes on 26 July 1998, Aanane came through the MAS Fes youth system before progressing to the club’s reserve side. He moved from MAS Fes Reserve to Beni Mellal in January 2020, beginning a series of free transfers that took him to COD Meknes and then Wydad Fes.

His return gives COD Meknes a right-back with previous experience at the club and recent competitive football for Wydad Fes. The move also marks the latest stage of a career spent entirely in Morocco, with Aanane having represented MAS Fes, Beni Mellal, COD Meknes and Wydad Fes.

Aanane is now contracted to COD Meknes until June 2028 after completing his free transfer from Wydad Fes.
