U17 AFCON qualifiers

Morocco’s U17 national team will face Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia in a revised qualifying schedule for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations following Libya’s withdrawal from the North African tournament.

The North African Football Confederation (UNAF) announced changes to the competition programme, which will now involve four teams instead of the originally planned five.

According to a statement published on the federation’s official Facebook page, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria will compete in the qualifiers after Libya was unable to participate.

Morocco to face Algeria in opening fixture

Under the revised schedule, Morocco will begin its qualifying campaign against Algeria on November 10.

The young Atlas Lions will then take on Egypt on November 13 before concluding their participation against hosts Tunisia on November 16.

The qualifiers were initially scheduled to run from November 10 to 22, but Libya’s withdrawal forced the organisers to adjust the programme and bring the competition to a close on November 16.

Sousse and Monastir to host qualifiers

The matches will be played in the Tunisian cities of Sousse and Monastir.

The competition will determine the two teams that will represent the North African region at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
