Morocco ranks high in latest FIFA rankings

FIFA has unveiled its latest men’s rankings following the March 2026 international break, revealing notable movements across the African football landscape.

At the summit, Morocco have once again cemented their status as the continent’s top-ranked side. Their continued dominance reflects a period of remarkable consistency on the global stage, as they maintain their place among the world’s elite teams.

Morocco’s position at 8th in the world rankings, with 1755.87 points, underscores their sustained excellence and reinforces their reputation as Africa’s leading football powerhouse.

Just behind them, Senegal remain firmly in second place on the continent, ranked 14th globally. Senegal continue to demonstrate their pedigree, keeping pace with the best teams in international football.

Nigeria sit third in Africa at 26th worldwide, followed closely by Algeria (28th) and Egypt (29th), highlighting the competitive depth among Africa’s top-tier nations.

Reigning African champions Ivory Coast are ranked 34th globally, while Tunisia (44th), Cameroon (45th), DR Congo (46th), and Mali (52nd) complete Africa’s top ten.

However, the biggest talking point in the latest update is the drop suffered by Ghana, who have fallen to 74th in the global rankings. The decline reflects recent struggles and inconsistent performances, raising concerns as the team prepares for upcoming international challenges.

The latest rankings paint a picture of both stability and shifting fortunes within African football. While Morocco continue to lead with authority, the movement among other nations highlights the ever-evolving nature of the game on the continent.

As teams gear up for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and other major competitions, these rankings serve as both a benchmark and a motivation—rewarding consistency while reminding others of the work needed to climb back to the top.
