The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has secured the services of Real Madrid technical team member Abián Perdomo in a major step to strengthen its youth development structure.

This move reflects Morocco’s growing ambition to become a global force in football, building on recent international successes and continued investment in elite player development.

Perdomo, who has spent over a decade with Real Madrid, most recently supervised methodology and acted as a key link between La Fabrica, the club’s famed youth academy, and the first team.

Having contributed to the development of top talents such as Dani Carvajal, Nacho and Federico Valverde, his appointment is seen as a strategic masterstroke by the FRMF.

In his new role in Morocco, Perdomo will oversee the technical curriculum and implement a modern training methodology designed to nurture and elevate young Moroccan players.

His approach is expected to merge elite European coaching standards with the identity and culture of Moroccan football. The goal is to create a high-performance environment where emerging talents can compete at the top level both domestically and internationally.

This development comes at a pivotal time, as Morocco continues to build on its recent achievements and prepares for major competitions, including the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations. The FRMF has been investing heavily in infrastructure, coaching and strategic partnerships to establish a sustainable football ecosystem.

By bringing in Perdomo, Morocco is signalling its determination to accelerate the growth of its youth pipeline and position itself as a leader in global football development. As Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the FRMF, has emphasised, the federation’s mission goes beyond winning trophies; it is about providing the next generation of Moroccan footballers with the platform to reach new heights.

Perdomo’s expertise from Real Madrid is expected to be instrumental in transforming Morocco’s youth system, offering players the technical guidance, tactical awareness and professional environment needed to thrive on the world stage.
