Morocco has strengthened its AFCON 2025 transport preparations by taking delivery of 723 high-end buses from leading Chinese manufacturer Yutong.

The new fleet is expected to provide seamless mobility for teams, officials, media, and fans during the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, which begins on December 21.

The official handover ceremony was held at Yutong’s production base in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, with Moroccan representatives and company executives in attendance.

Yutong confirmed that the buses had “officially rolled off the production line” and will ensure “comprehensive transport services and reliable operational support” during the continental showpiece.

The buses were custom-built for Morocco’s unique terrain and climate, featuring independent front axle suspension for easy navigation in narrow city streets and Yutong’s in-house “Blue Core System” to boost fuel efficiency.

This technological adaptation will help tackle challenges such as heat, steep slopes, and sandstorms – conditions expected in some AFCON host cities.

The order represents the largest single delivery of Chinese buses in Africa, underlining the scale of Morocco’s logistics plan for AFCON 2025.

To ensure smooth operation, Yutong will deploy over 100 technicians in Morocco, offering training, maintenance, and 24-hour support throughout the tournament.

Beyond AFCON, this investment fits into Morocco’s long-term transport modernisation strategy, which targets the acquisition of 7,000 new buses by 2030-half of them electric.

This initiative is also part of the broader preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2030, which Morocco will co-host alongside Spain and Portugal.

The arrival of the new Yutong buses highlights Morocco’s determination to stage a successful AFCON 2025 and to showcase its readiness for global football events in the years ahead.
