Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi has expressed his excitement after the Atlas Lions arrived in the United States to begin the final phase of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The national team touched down ahead of the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Hakimi Eager for World Cup Journey

Speaking shortly after the team’s arrival, Hakimi highlighted the enthusiasm within the squad as preparations intensify for football’s biggest competition. The defender revealed that the players are eager to begin training and fully immerse themselves in the World Cup atmosphere.

“We are very happy to be here and to participate in this important tournament,” Hakimi told FIFA’s official website.

The Morocco captain also stressed the importance of support from Moroccan fans based in the United States, believing their presence will provide additional motivation throughout the competition.

“We are very excited for the start of the competitions and to feel the support of all Moroccans in America. Their presence will motivate us to give our best and make a good showing.”

Focus Turns to Preparations

Hakimi reiterated the squad’s enthusiasm as they begin their training camp and continue their countdown to the tournament.

The Atlas Lions departed Morocco on Wednesday, June 3, travelling directly from Rabat Salé Airport to the United States, where they will complete their final preparations before the World Cup kicks off.

Upon arriving in the United States, the Moroccan squad immediately shifted its focus to the training programme designed by the coaching staff. The preparations will include several training sessions before the team takes on Norway in a friendly match next Sunday.

The fixture will serve as Morocco’s final test before they begin their World Cup campaign.
