Morocco: Rabat to stage crucial African World Cup playoffs in November

Rabat will host CAF’s decisive African playoffs for the 2026 World Cup between 13 and 16 November, during the upcoming international window.

CAF confirmed that two semi-finals will be held at the newly redeveloped Al Barid Stadium.

Gabon and Nigeria will open the programme on 13 November at 17:00 local time, followed by Cameroon against the Democratic Republic of Congo later that evening at 20:00.

The winners will advance to a final on Sunday, 16 November, at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in the Moroccan capital.

The victor of that match will secure a place in the intercontinental play-off, where they will compete for Africa’s tenth and final spot at next year’s World Cup.

The Moulay Hassan and Al Barid venues have undergone full reconstruction and will be used in competitive fixtures for the first time during this play-off series.

Both stadiums are also set to play a significant role at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

With only one berth available and four nations still in contention, Rabat is set to take centre stage for one of the continent’s most high-pressure paths to the global finals.
