Morocco midfielder Neil El Aynaoui attracts Saudi interest

Morocco international Neil El Aynaoui could leave AS Roma this summer, with clubs from Saudi Arabia reportedly showing interest in the midfielder.

Roma are understood to be willing to consider offers for the 24-year-old as the Italian transfer window moves towards its final stages, with the club valuing him at €35m.

Roma looking to raise funds

According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Roma’s willingness to sell El Aynaoui is linked to their efforts to strengthen their financial position before the transfer window closes.

The Italian club are also having to work within financial requirements imposed by UEFA, making player sales an important part of their transfer planning.

El Aynaoui joined Roma from French club Lens in the summer of 2025 on a five-year contract. The deal was reportedly worth an initial €23m, with a further €2m available in bonuses.

Strong first season in Italy

The Morocco international made a positive impression during his first campaign in the Italian capital.

He contributed one goal and two assists while completing 89% of his passes, strengthening his reputation as one of Morocco’s emerging midfield options.

His performances have also attracted attention from elsewhere in Europe, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Fenerbahçe previously linked with the midfielder.

Saudi move yet to take shape

Despite the growing interest from Saudi Arabia, there is no formal offer for El Aynaoui at this stage, and no specific Saudi club has been publicly identified as a potential destination.

Roma’s €35m valuation could ultimately determine whether the reported interest develops into serious negotiations.

For El Aynaoui, who has continued to build his profile with both Roma and Morocco, the final stages of the transfer window could therefore prove decisive for his future.
