Ismaël Saibari wins Eredivisie Player of the Season award

Morocco midfielder Ismaël Saibari has been named the Eredivisie Player of the Season after a standout campaign with PSV Eindhoven.

The 24-year-old received the highest number of votes at the Eredivisie Awards on Monday, beating several high-profile contenders to claim one of the most prestigious individual honours in Dutch football.

Saibari finished ahead of PSV teammate Joey Veerman, as well as Mika Godts of AFC Ajax, Jacob Trenskow from SC Heerenveen and Tjaronn Chery of NEC Nijmegen.

The award recognises the impact Saibari made throughout the season as one of PSV’s most influential players. His performances in midfield helped establish him as a central figure for the club during the campaign.

Already regarded as one of the leading talents in Dutch football, the Morocco international continued his development with a series of consistent displays that attracted attention both domestically and internationally.

Saibari’s technical quality, movement and attacking contribution were regularly highlighted during the season, with the midfielder becoming one of the most decisive players in the Eredivisie.

His performances also strengthened his standing within the Morocco national team setup, where he has increasingly become an important option for the Atlas Lions.

Winning the award marks another significant step in the career of the former Genk academy player, who has continued to progress rapidly since establishing himself in Eindhoven.

The recognition also reflects PSV’s strong season overall, with the club once again producing several standout performers in the Dutch top flight.

For Saibari, however, the individual honour represents confirmation of his growing influence at both club and international level, while also reinforcing his reputation as one of the leading African players currently playing in Europe.
