Morocco U20 team has been recognized with the Fair Play Team award, showcasing their commitment to sportsmanship throughout the U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.
The North African country missed out on the ultimate title following narrow defeat to the Amajitas of South Africa on Sunday.
Despite the many chances created in the first half, neither side could find the back of the net. However, it was South Africa who prevailed in the second half of the match, with Gomolemo Kekana scoring the only goal to secure the trophy for his outfit.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, the Technical Study Group acknowledged Morocco’s exemplary sportsmanship by awarding them the Fair Play Team distinction.
Despite losing the trophy, Morocco have secured a place in the FIFA U20 World Cup tournament to be staged in Chile later this year.
Nigeria and Egypt have also booked a slot at the upcoming World Cup tournament to be played in the South American country.
