Hicham Dmiai’s resignation from Kawkab Marrakech after a period of criticism highlights just how quickly things can change in football, especially when expectations are high. Despite his successes, including promotion to the first division and a solid 5th place finish in his first season, the 1-0 defeat to Chabab Atlas Khénifra and the subsequent poor run of form with just one win in six matches seem to have put a lot of pressure on him.
It’s also clear that the 4-0 defeat against Wydad had a major impact on the team’s morale and public perception. Kawkab Marrakech’s current position of 5th in the Moroccan league, while still respectable, means they’re very much in the mix for the top spots, but maybe not living up to the fans’ and critics’ expectations.
Given Dmiai’s achievements with the club, it’s interesting that he felt the need to step down so early into a new season.
