Hakim Ziyech Defends His Move to FC Twente Over Feyenoord
Despite being courted by multiple clubs during the summer transfer window, Hakim Ziyech opted to sign with FC Twente, turning down a significantly more lucrative offer from Feyenoord Rotterdam. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is standing by his decision, asserting that his career choices are based on personal growth—not paycheck figures.
“People think I’m stupid for not choosing the club that offers the best salary. But I made that choice for myself and I’m not interested in what other people think,” Ziyech said in an interview with mountakhab.net.
“I feel comfortable at Twente and their project matches my ambitions… I didn’t belong at Feyenoord.”
So far, Ziyech’s performances have validated his confidence. After just eight league matches, he has scored four goals and provided two assists, quickly establishing himself as a key player in Twente’s setup.
Ziyech’s choice reflects a maturity beyond his years—a player focused on development and fit, rather than simply chasing the biggest offer.
