MOROCCO-GUINEA FRIENDLY MATCH: DUSSUYER, STILL WITHOUT SALARY, SUMMONS 20 PLAYERS
In preparation for the last qualifying round of the CAN 2013, French coach Michel Dussuyer of Guinea has announced a list of 20 players who will face the Atlas Lions in Rabat on August 15, coinciding with FIFA Day for friendly international matches.
The selected squad comprises two goalkeepers, seven defenders, five midfielders, and six forwards. Notably, captain Kamille Zayatte remains unavailable due to health reasons, and Dian Bobo Baldé is also absent due to injury. However, Nantais Ismaël Bangoura, currently on the flank, has been called up and is expected to return to the pitch before the scheduled match.
Dussuyer stated that the friendly match against Morocco serves as an opportunity to assess the form and health of the players. During a press conference, the French coach also addressed the issue of delayed salary payments, expressing that the matter remains unresolved, and he hopes for a swift resolution to avoid any disruption to the team’s environment.
Ibrahima Blasco Barry, the general secretary of the Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFOOT), also present at the press conference, echoed the desire for a quick resolution to the salary payment issue to prevent any negative impact on the team.
Guinea is set to play against the national team of Guinea on August 15 at 10 p.m., adjusted to accommodate the Ramadan fast. The match is seen as crucial in the teams’ preparations for the final round of qualifying for CAN 2013, where Morocco will face Mozambique, and Guinea will challenge Niger. The meeting was requested by Morocco, and the kingdom has undertaken all associated costs, including accommodation and international transport for the Guinean players and delegation.
