Saudi Arabian powerhouse Al Hilal has confirmed that Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has signed a new contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2028.

The announcement, made on Thursday, extends Bounou’s stay by two more years beyond his initial deal, which was set to run until 2026.

“I’m very happy to renew my contract with the club. I hope to give my best, God willing, so we can make our fans proud. Dima Hilal [Hilal forever],” Bounou said.

Since joining Al Hilal from Sevilla FC in August 2023, the Moroccan international has been a key figure for the Saudi Pro League champions. He has made over 90 appearances, conceding 85 goals, and played a pivotal role in the club’s domestic and continental successes.

Bounou’s consistency was recognized when he was named Best Goalkeeper in the Saudi Pro League for the 2023–24 season.

Before his move to Saudi Arabia, the 33-year-old enjoyed an impressive spell in La Liga, helping Sevilla win the UEFA Europa League and earning widespread acclaim for his shot-stopping abilities.

Bounou’s global reputation soared during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he inspired Morocco to an unprecedented semi-final finish—the first by an African and Arab nation in the tournament’s history.

His remarkable performances earned him multiple Man of the Match awards and cemented his status as one of the world’s elite goalkeepers.

Most recently, Bounou was ranked fifth in the 2025 Ballon d’Or Yashin Trophy standings, which honor the world’s best goalkeepers.
