Morocco goalkeeper Abdelali Mhamdi returns to KACM Marrakech on free transfer

Morocco goalkeeper Abdelali Mhamdi has returned to KACM Marrakech from Wydad AC on a free transfer, completing a move that brings the 34-year-old back to the club where his senior career began.

Mhamdi has signed a contract with KACM running until 30 June 2027. The goalkeeper’s move was completed on 9 September, with both clubs competing in Morocco’s Botola Pro Inwi.

The transfer marks a return to familiar surroundings for the Marrakech-born player. Mhamdi joined KACM Marrakech from the club’s youth setup in July 2011 and remained there until July 2015, when he moved to Renaissance de Berkane for €277,000.

He spent four years with Renaissance de Berkane before leaving Morocco for Saudi Arabia, joining Abha on a free transfer in July 2019. After three seasons with Abha, Mhamdi returned to Morocco to sign for MAS Fes in August 2022.

His next move took him back to Saudi Arabia, where he joined Al-Batin from MAS Fes in August 2023. Mhamdi later returned to Morocco and signed for Wydad AC as a free agent in July 2024.

The goalkeeper then spent part of the 2024-25 season back at Al-Batin on loan from Wydad. That temporary move was completed in January 2025 for a loan fee of €182,000, before Mhamdi returned to the Casablanca club when the loan ended on 30 June 2025.

Mhamdi’s honours include winning the African Nations Championship with Morocco in the 2017-18 campaign. He also helped Renaissance de Berkane win the Moroccan Cup during the same season, adding a domestic trophy to his international achievement.

At 1.92m, the right-footed goalkeeper brings extensive experience from spells in Morocco and Saudi Arabia to KACM Marrakech. His latest move is the second time he has joined the Marrakech club, following his progression from its youth ranks.

Mhamdi has therefore left Wydad AC after two years, completing a free transfer to KACM Marrakech on a contract that runs through June 2027.
