Morocco confirm three friendly matches ahead of 2026 World Cup
Morocco will play three international friendly matches as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Atlas Lions set to face Burundi, Madagascar and Norway ahead of the tournament.
The schedule was confirmed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation as the national team intensifies preparations for the competition, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The first preparation match will take place on May 26 against Burundi at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. According to the federation, the match will be played behind closed doors.
Morocco will then face Madagascar on June 2 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with kick-off scheduled for 6:00 PM local time.
The final friendly before the World Cup will see the Atlas Lions take on Norway on June 7 at the Red Bull Arena in New York, United States. The match is set to begin at 3:00 PM local time.
The fixtures are expected to provide the Moroccan coaching staff with an important opportunity to assess the squad and fine-tune preparations before the start of the tournament.
Led by captain Achraf Hakimi, Morocco will enter the World Cup aiming to build on recent international progress and strengthen their position among the leading football nations on the continent.
The three friendlies are also likely to help players adapt to different tactical situations and physical demands before the start of the competition.
Morocco have been placed in a challenging Group C for the World Cup, where they will face Brazil, Scotland and Haiti.
The match against Norway is expected to offer a particularly useful test given the level of opposition and the conditions in the United States ahead of the tournament.
With the World Cup drawing closer, the Atlas Lions are now entering a decisive phase of preparation as the coaching staff seek to finalise tactical plans and assess the readiness of the squad before the global competition begins.
