Spanish La Liga side Elche are reportedly on the verge of signing Morocco international Hakim Ziyech on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old has been without a club since leaving Qatari side Al-Duhail earlier this year.
Despite receiving more lucrative offers from Turkey and the Middle East, Ziyech is understood to view a move to Spain as the ideal platform to revive his career and return to contention for the Morocco national team.
Ziyech’s career trajectory has faced challenges since his £33 million move from Ajax to Chelsea in 2020.
He struggled to secure a regular spot at Stamford Bridge, and brief stints at Galatasaray and Al-Duhail failed to provide the stability he needed, leaving him clubless for much of 2025.
The absence of regular club football has also affected his international involvement, with Ziyech missing Morocco’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Niger and Zambia next month.
The attacking midfielder has earned 56 caps and played a pivotal role in Morocco’s historic run to the World Cup semi-finals in 2022.
A move to Elche would offer Ziyech the opportunity to reignite his career in La Liga and push for a recall to the national team ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in December.
