Morocco forward Ashraf Bencharki begins gradual return to Al Ahly training
Moroccan forward Ashraf Bencharki has taken a positive step in his recovery after Al Ahly confirmed that he has started gradually returning to group training.
The Egyptian giants revealed that Bencharki participated in part of the team’s training session on Tuesday at the Al-Tetch Stadium in Al-Jazira, following a short spell away from collective work.
Bencharki had recently been sidelined after experiencing pain caused by inflammation in his Achilles tendon.
The Moroccan has spent the past 48 hours undergoing treatment and rehabilitation under the supervision of Al Ahly’s medical team as the club managed his recovery.
According to the club, Bencharki has now begun integrating into group training in stages, following a programme prepared by Dr Ahmed Jaballah, Al Ahly’s head of medical staff.
His gradual return provides encouragement for the club as they prepare for a demanding period in the Egyptian Premier League.
Al Ahly resumed training on Tuesday after playing a friendly against Libyan side Al-Ittihad Al-Misrati on Monday.
The coaching and medical teams are expected to continue monitoring Bencharki’s condition and carefully manage his workload as he works towards a full return to training.
The Moroccan attacker will be hoping to regain full fitness in time to play an important role for Al Ahly, particularly with a major league fixture against Zamalek approaching.
Al Ahly are scheduled to face their Cairo rivals in the Egyptian Premier League on October 11, with the derby set to be played in the sixth round of the competition.
Bencharki’s return to group training is therefore a timely boost, although the club is likely to remain cautious with his recovery to avoid aggravating the Achilles problem.
