Morocco: Former Wydad coach Adel Ramzi joins Mohamed Ouahbi's backroom staff

Former Wydad Casablanca coach Adel Ramzi has officially joined the coaching staff of the Moroccan national team, now under the leadership of Mohamed Ouahbi.

Ouahbi assumed control of the Atlas Lions following the departure of Walid Regragui, who stepped down after Morocco’s runner-up finish at the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

According to reports from the Moroccan sports outlet “SPORT7,” the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has finalised an agreement with Ramzi to serve as an assistant coach for the senior national team.

He will work alongside Joao Sacramento, supporting Wahbi in preparing the squad for upcoming international competitions, including crucial qualifiers and friendlies ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Adel Ramzi brings experience from his brief tenure at Wydad Casablanca, where he managed the club for nearly five months.

His stint ended in December 2023 by mutual consent, following a series of disappointing results that left the club seeking a new direction.

Despite the short spell, Ramzi is respected in Moroccan football circles for his tactical knowledge and ability to develop players—qualities that the national team hopes will bolster Wahbi’s setup.

The addition of Ramzi signals the federation’s intent to strengthen the technical team, combining local expertise with international perspectives to guide Morocco through a busy international calendar.

His appointment also reflects a broader strategy of integrating coaches with recent domestic experience to ensure continuity between club and national team development programs.
