Key guidelines for Moroccan fans travelling to USA for 2026 FIFA World Cup

The Embassy of Morocco in Washington has introduced practical tools to help supporters of the Morocco national football team prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The initiative is designed to make travel and stay arrangements easier for fans following the Atlas Lions.

Embassy launches fan support tools

In its official statement, the embassy announced two key resources: an informational video and a practical travel guide. Both aim to support Moroccan fans with essential procedures, travel advice, and logistical planning before and during the tournament.

The video, presented by Ambassador Youssef Amrani, outlines key consular information, transport guidance, accommodation tips, and safety measures for supporters travelling to the United States.

Essential documents and travel requirements

Fans are advised to prepare several important requirements in advance. These include obtaining a FIFA Fan Pass, purchasing match tickets, applying for a U.S. visa, booking accommodation and flights, securing travel insurance, and respecting customs rules on prohibited items.

The guide also highlights the process for obtaining a U.S. B1/B2 visa, including completing the DS-160 form, paying the visa fee, and attending an interview at the U.S. Consulate in Casablanca with all required documents.

Flight and transport options

Several travel routes connecting Morocco to the United States were outlined in the guide. These include direct Casablanca–New York flights operated by Royal Air Maroc, as well as other routes via European and North American transit hubs.

For local transport in the U.S., fans are encouraged to use ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft, public transportation systems, shuttle buses, or car rentals. The embassy also noted that driving may require a valid license, credit card, and in some cases an international driving permit.

Accommodation and financial advice

Supporters are strongly advised to book accommodation early due to expected high demand and rising prices during the tournament period. Options include hotels, travel agencies, and online booking platforms.

On financial matters, the embassy reminded travellers that any cash exceeding $10,000 must be declared when entering or leaving the United States. Fans are also encouraged to use internationally accepted payment cards while being mindful of possible transaction fees.

Health, insurance, and consular support

The guide stresses the importance of comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, hospitalisation, and repatriation. Fans are encouraged to keep both digital and printed copies of insurance documents.

To ensure smooth assistance during the tournament, the Moroccan Embassy confirmed plans to deploy mobile consulates in host cities, along with emergency hotlines and dedicated support services in Washington, New York, and Miami for Moroccan supporters throughout the competition.
