Morocco edge Tunisia 2-0 in strong start to U17 AFCON qualifiers

Morocco’s national U17 team secured an impressive victory over Tunisia, winning 2-0 in their opening match of the North African Union Championship, currently being hosted in Libya.

The Cubs delivered a spirited performance, with Zainabi Muhammad Habib opening the scoring in the 20th minute before Rami Lukmani sealed the win deep into stoppage time in the 93rd minute.

The North African Football Union Championship is being played in a mini-league format and serves as a qualifying tournament for the Africa Cup of Nations at the under-17 level.

Morocco is competing alongside Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Algeria as they aim to secure qualification for the continental showpiece.

Following their victory over Tunisia, the Moroccan side will continue their campaign with upcoming fixtures against Algeria, Egypt, and hosts Libya in the remaining matches of the tournament.

The Cubs are feeling confident and believe they can go all the way to win the ongoing North African Football Union Championship.
