Morocco defender Nayef Aguerd undergoes successful surgery after months of persistent pain
Morocco international Nayef Aguerd has successfully undergone surgery to correct persistent lower abdomen pain that had troubled him for several months.
Following the surgery, the former West Ham United centre-back, who is currently in the books of Marseille disclosed he had been playing through pain for months.
“Since October, I have been suffering from pains that have become a part of my daily life. From waking up until going to sleep, and sometimes even during the night, these pains have become constant.” He wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter after the surgery.
The Moroccan international had reportedly been managing the discomfort while continuing to train and play, but the increasing intensity of the pain forced him to seek a surgical solution.
Aguerd’s injury has been a concern for Marseille this season, as he has been a key figure in the club’s defense. His absence from training and matches could affect the team’s defensive stability in Ligue 1 and European competitions, making his recovery timeline crucial for the club’s upcoming fixtures.
Medical staff at Olympique Marseille are expected to monitor Aguerd closely in the coming weeks, with the aim of ensuring a smooth rehabilitation process.
While no specific timeline for his return has been confirmed, the club hopes to have him back to full fitness in time for critical matches later in the season.
Fans and teammates have expressed their support for Aguerd, sending messages wishing him a speedy recovery. The Moroccan defender, known for his physicality, tactical awareness, and leadership at the back, remains an integral part of both Marseille’s squad and the Moroccan national team.
