Morocco defender Nayef Aguerd returns to face Toulouse after injury recovery
Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed the availability of Morocco international Nayef Aguerd ahead of their game against Toulouse.
The former West Ham United centre-back return for the French Ligue 1 clash after overcoming a chronic pain caused by a pulgalgia.
Aguerd missed out on Marseille’s 5-1 win over Nice last Friday before missing the Champions League clash against Newcastle United in mid-week.
As the team gears up for the Toulouse this weekend, the former Brighton manager has confirmed the availability of the Moroccan defender.
“Aguerd should be back in the squad, and that is all,” said De Zerbi. “I told my medical staff to keep an eye on the players that are currently playing a lot of games: Greenwood, Paixao, Aubameyang, Højbjerg, and of course Balerdi who has only come back to play two games after several weeks out of action.”
The Moroccan’s game time has been heavily managed lately, with an AFCON on home soil at the horizon.
He won’t be expected to be over-utilised in the coming months, but could be called upon to start if there are any injury issues with captain Balerdi.
