Morocco defender Mohamed Yassine Abouzra joins OC Safi on deal until 2027

Morocco centre-back Mohamed Yassine Abouzra has joined OC Safi, returning to club football after a spell as a free agent. The 29-year-old defender has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027.

Abouzra’s move to the Moroccan side was completed on 12 August 2026, following his departure from Kahraba at the start of the year. He had joined the Egyptian club from Difaa El Jadida in August 2025, also on a free transfer, before leaving on 1 January 2026.

The right-footed defender stands 1.85m tall and plays primarily in central defence. His arrival gives OC Safi an experienced option at the heart of their back line, with Abouzra having played in several domestic competitions during his career in Morocco and abroad.

Abouzra made 25 appearances in the Botola Pro Inwi and scored twice. His career record also includes 27 appearances and three goals in the Derde Divisie A, as well as 26 matches and five goals in the Druga Liga. He has additionally featured in the Premier League, Egypt Cup, Egyptian League Cup, KNVB Beker, Excellence Cup and Coupe du Trone Marocaine.

Before moving into senior football, Abouzra came through the youth system at Raja Youth and Raja Casablanca’s under-19 side. He subsequently represented RCA Reserve, Real Farma, Balkany Zorya and ACV, with each of those moves recorded as a free transfer or progression within his early career.

His time at Moghreb Tetouan preceded the move to Difaa El Jadida, where he spent the 2024-25 campaign before switching countries to join Kahraba. After becoming unattached in January, Abouzra now returns to Morocco with OC Safi.

The defender’s current market value is listed at €150,000, while his highest recorded value was €400,000. He has not been credited with a senior international appearance for Morocco, although his nationality and playing career have been rooted primarily in Moroccan football.

Abouzra is now under contract with OC Safi until the end of June 2027.
