Morocco delivered a commanding performance in their final warm-up match ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, dismantling Tanzania 4-0 at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday evening.
With just a week remaining before the tournament kicks off on home soil, the Atlas Lionesses demonstrated both form and intent in a dominant display that will boost confidence ahead of their opening Group A clash.
Jorge Vilda’s side imposed themselves early, controlling possession and dictating the tempo.
The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when forward Ibtissam Jraidi converted from the penalty spot after sustained pressure in the Tanzanian box.
The hosts doubled their lead just before the interval, with Ghizlane Chebbak capping off a slick attacking move to give Morocco a comfortable two-goal cushion at half-time.
After the break, the Lionesses continued their relentless charge.
Imène El Ghazouani extended the lead midway through the second half, finding the net with precision and composure.
Najat Badri then rounded off the scoring to seal a four-goal triumph in front of an appreciative home crowd.
The result reflects Morocco’s growing momentum and tactical cohesion as they prepare to compete in what promises to be a highly competitive group.
Drawn alongside Zambia, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the hosts will need to maintain this level of performance if they are to navigate a challenging Group A and progress deep into the tournament.
“The team is improving every day,” said head coach Jorge Vilda in the post-match press conference. “We’ve worked hard to create a strong foundation, and now it’s about carrying this energy into the competition. We respect every opponent, but our ambition is to go as far as possible.”
Since the start of 2025, the Atlas Lionesses have suffered just one defeat in seven outings, building a strong case as one of the continent’s most in-form sides.
Saturday’s victory followed earlier wins against Cape Verde and Malawi, and further highlighted Morocco’s attacking depth and defensive discipline.
With the crowd behind them and momentum on their side, Morocco will begin their Women’s AFCON campaign brimming with confidence, determined to make a mark and possibly challenge for the continental crown.
