Morocco coach Ouahbi to unveil squad for 2027 AFCON qualifiers on Thursday

Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi will announce his squad for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches on Thursday, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has confirmed.

Ouahbi, who replaced Walid Regragui before the 2026 World Cup is scheduled to hold a press conference at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, where he will unveil the players selected for AFCON 2027 qualifying fixtures.

The Atlas Lions will open their qualifying campaign against Gabon on Friday, September 25, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Morocco will then travel to South Africa four days later to face Lesotho on September 29 in the second round of the qualifiers, with the match scheduled to take place in Bloemfontein.

The two fixtures will represent Wahbi’s first major test as he looks to build a squad capable of navigating the qualifying campaign successfully.

The Morocco coach will have to make important decisions regarding the players to include, with competition for places expected to be strong across the different departments.

The Atlas Lions will be keen to make a positive start to the qualifiers, particularly with home advantage against Gabon before facing Lesotho away from home.

Ouahbi is expected to select a squad that combines experienced internationals with players capable of fitting into his tactical plans as Morocco begin their journey towards the 2027 continental showpiece.
