Morocco coach says Bouadi has the mentality to thrive at Europe’s biggest clubs

Morocco assistant coach Joao Sacramento believes teenage midfielder Ayyoub Bouadi has the qualities to succeed at clubs such as Real Madrid or Manchester City, saying the Lille youngster possesses a level of maturity and football intelligence rarely seen in players of his age.

Bouadi has emerged as one of Africa’s brightest young prospects after impressing for Lille and earning the confidence of Morocco’s coaching staff, who view the 18-year-old as a key part of the Atlas Lions’ future.

Speaking about the midfielder, Sacramento said Bouadi’s qualities extend well beyond his technical ability on the pitch.

“When you get to know Bouadi, you quickly realise that he is a different kind of player. He is a very intelligent young man, and I have no doubt that he would have achieved great success in any other profession if he were not a football player, and his maturity is far beyond his age.”

A player with intelligence on and off the pitch

Sacramento revealed that Bouadi is studying applied mathematics alongside his football career, describing him as someone capable of excelling in any profession because of his mindset and discipline.

He also disclosed that convincing Bouadi to commit his international future to Morocco was one of the coaching staff’s priorities earlier this year, alongside efforts to recruit defender Issa Diop.

According to the Portuguese coach, repeated meetings with the teenager reinforced their belief that Morocco had secured a player with exceptional leadership qualities and a strong personality.

Brazil performance highlighted tactical awareness

Sacramento pointed to Morocco’s match against Brazil as an example of Bouadi’s football intelligence.

During a drinks break, the midfielder approached the coaching staff to suggest a tactical adjustment involving the positioning of the team’s winger to reduce defensive space.

The assistant coach revealed that the technical staff had been discussing exactly the same idea moments earlier, underlining the youngster’s ability to read the game.

“Bouadi is a complete player, and he plays the role of a coach on the field. We were not surprised by what he presented against Brazil, because we know his personality and capabilities, and I am convinced that he will soon reach the elite level.”

Patience key despite interest from Europe’s giants

With Bouadi increasingly being linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, Sacramento believes the Moroccan has the talent to play for the likes of Real Madrid or Manchester City.

However, he stressed that making such a move requires more than ability alone, insisting the timing of any transfer will be just as important as the player’s development.

“Readiness is not only related to age. Buaidi himself does not want to rush, because he realizes that playing for big clubs also requires the right timing and the status that the player reaches, in addition to the respect he gains from what he offers on the field.”

Bouadi’s rapid rise has made him one of the continent’s most exciting young footballers, with Morocco hoping the midfielder can become another cornerstone of the Atlas Lions’ ambitious long-term project.
