Faouzi Benzarti Expresses Interest in Morocco’s Coaching Role Ahead of AFCON Qualifiers
As Morocco continues its search for a new head coach ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, one name has emerged as a potential candidate: Faouzi Benzarti. The experienced Tunisian manager, who currently leads Raja Casablanca, has expressed his keen interest in taking the reins of the Atlas Lions.
Benzarti, who has enjoyed a successful stint with Raja, including guiding the club to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, is eager for the challenge. Although his side ultimately lost to Bayern Munich in the final, Benzarti’s achievements at the club level have only heightened his reputation.
In an interview regarding the vacant national team position, the 70-year-old manager made it clear that he would welcome the opportunity to coach Morocco. “I hope I get this opportunity. If they trust me, I promise the Moroccans the AFCON final. I’m even ready to take on this responsibility for free,” he said, underscoring his enthusiasm for the role.
Benzarti’s candidacy could prove to be an exciting one for Morocco, whose national team has shown promise in recent years but is still in search of the right coach to lead them to greater success in continental competitions. Should the Moroccan Football Federation opt for Benzarti, they would be gaining a manager with both significant African and club football experience.
Moroccan fans will now be watching closely as the federation finalizes its decision ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
