Morocco begin 2027 Africa Cup of Nations preparations under Mohamed Ouahbi

Morocco have begun preparations for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches, with Mohamed Ouahbi overseeing the national team’s opening training session at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.

The Atlas Lions face two qualifying fixtures against Gabon and Lesotho, as well as a friendly against Ghana, during the current international programme.

The squad’s first session on Monday, 21 September 2026, was designed to help the players return to competitive rhythm and begin the preparation plan drawn up by the technical staff.

All the invited players took part apart from Ismail Al-Sibari and Achraf Hakimi, who are expected to join the group on Wednesday.

Morocco will continue training at the Mohammed VI Football Complex over the coming days as they work towards reaching the required level of preparation before their opening fixture.

Their first match will be against Gabon on Friday, 25 September 2026, at 19:00 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. They will then play Lesotho on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, in South Africa.

The team’s schedule will conclude with a friendly against Ghana on Sunday, 4 October 2026.
