Morocco’s national football team has reached an unprecedented milestone, becoming the most expensive African team qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be held in Morocco from December 25, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
According to a recent report by Al Sabah newspaper, the Atlas Lions boast a remarkable marketing value of 361 million Euros, as per Transfermarkt, a platform specializing in player statistics and valuations.
This positions Morocco ahead of Nigeria (€333 million), Cote d’Ivoire (€261 million), Senegal (€231 million), and Algeria (€180 million).
This achievement is attributed to the exceptional talent within Morocco’s squad, which includes world-class players performing at the highest levels of European football.
Achraf Hakimi, valued at €60 million, leads this elite group. The team also features other high-value players such as Brahim Diaz of Real Madrid, Noussair Mazraoui of Manchester United, and Nayef Aguerd of Real Sociedad.
The squad’s elevation in market value reflects a broader trend in Moroccan football, characterized by investment in youth development and a focus on professional excellence.
The presence of six Arab teams, including Morocco, among the 24 qualifiers, underscores the region’s growing prominence in international football.
With the upcoming AFCON, Morocco is poised to showcase its dominance both on and off the pitch.
