Morocco attacker Hamza Igamane resumes ball work in major boost to Lille return
Moroccan international Hamza Igamane has taken another important step in his recovery from a serious knee injury after returning to ball work at French club Lille’s training centre.
The 23-year-old forward was spotted undergoing an individual training session as part of his rehabilitation programme, providing an encouraging sign that his long-awaited return to competitive football is getting closer.
Lille shared footage of Igamane working with the ball during his individual session, showing the Moroccan forward making progress after months of rehabilitation following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee.
The injury has kept Igamane out of action for an extended period and also ruled him out of Morocco’s plans for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, dealing a major blow to a player who had been establishing himself as an important attacking option.
Since sustaining the injury, Igamane has remained under the supervision of Lille’s medical and technical teams as he works through a carefully managed recovery programme.
His return to ball work represents another significant milestone in that process.
After completing the latest stage of his rehabilitation, Igamane is expected to continue with his progressive individual training before eventually joining his teammates for full group sessions.
The transition back into collective training will be an important step, although the club is expected to manage his workload carefully as he builds his fitness and confidence following the lengthy lay-off.
Igamane’s absence has been a setback for both Lille and the Moroccan national team, particularly given his potential and his development at international level.
The former Rangers forward will now be hoping to complete the final stages of his recovery without complications and gradually work his way back into contention for competitive action.
His latest progress will come as welcome news to Lille supporters and followers of the Moroccan national team, who will be eager to see the young striker back on the pitch and continuing his development.
For Igamane, the immediate focus will be on completing his rehabilitation, regaining full match fitness and eventually returning to competitive football after a difficult spell on the sidelines.
