Morocco international Azzedine Ounahi has won Panathinaikos’ Player of the Season Award.
The 25-year-old midfielder earned the top spot in the club’s official fan poll, securing 25% of the votes after a standout season in which he scored five goals and assisted seven times across all competitions.
Ounahi joined Panathinaikos last summer on a season-long loan from French Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Impressed by his performances, Panathinaikos made a €5 million offer to sign the player permanently. However, Marseille reportedly value him at around double that amount, making a deal difficult to finalise.
Financial challenges and recent UEFA regulations have also constrained Panathinaikos’ ability to match Marseille’s asking price.
In response, the Greek club has proposed a new arrangement: extending Ounahi’s loan with a mandatory purchase clause of €6 million set for summer 2026.
Ounahi, who was instrumental in Morocco’s historic journey to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, remains under contract with Marseille until 2027.
