Morocco and Real Zaragoza defender Jawad El Yamiq sidelined for four weeks due to injury

Morocco’s injury woes persist just three months ahead of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The Atlas Lions, drawn in Group C alongside Brazil, Haiti, and Scotland, face mounting challenges as several key players have been sidelined since the conclusion of the recent African Cup of Nations hosted in Morocco.

Spanish media reports confirm that defender Jawad El Yamiq is sidelined with a muscle injury at Real Zaragoza.

While the club has not disclosed full details, early assessments suggest a muscle tear that could keep him out for several weeks.

According to Sport, El Yamiq will undergo further testing to gauge the injury’s severity.

He is expected to miss approximately four weeks of action, ruling him out of Morocco’s March training camp—the first under newly appointed coach Mohamed Wahbi.
