North African countries Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia are among the Arab countries set to feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will make history with a record number of Arab nations qualifying for the finals, as seven teams from the Arab world have booked their place at the tournament, the highest representation ever at a single World Cup.

This remarkable milestone highlights both the growth and competitiveness of Arab football across Africa and Asia, with Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Jordan all set to fly their flags proudly in North America next summer.

Morocco

Morocco became the first African team to secure qualification after a dominant campaign that included a 5–0 thrashing of Niger in September 2025. Riding on a 16-match winning streak, the Atlas Lions will head to the World Cup full of confidence. This marks Morocco’s seventh World Cup appearance, following their historic 2022 run to the semi-finals, the first ever by an African team.

Tunisia

Tunisia sealed qualification in style, going unbeaten and not conceding a single goal during the CAF group stage. Known for their tactical discipline and defensive solidity, the Eagles of Carthage will look to make history by advancing past the group stage for the first time in their seventh World Cup appearance.

Algeria

Algeria confirmed their spot late in 2025 with a crucial win that sealed top spot in their group. The Desert Foxes return to the global stage for a fifth time, hoping to replicate their memorable 2014 campaign when they reached the Round of 16 before losing narrowly to eventual champions Germany.

Egypt

Egypt booked their ticket by comfortably topping their group, capping it with a big win over Djibouti. Despite their pedigree as Africa’s most successful national team, the Pharaohs are yet to win a World Cup match. With a blend of experience and attacking flair, they’ll be aiming to break that record in their fourth World Cup appearance.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia secured qualification after a goalless draw with Iraq that took them top of their Asian group. The Green Falcons will make their seventh appearance, having debuted in 1994, where they reached the Round of 16, but have since struggled to progress past the group stages.

Qatar

Qatar came from behind to beat the UAE 2–1 in a decisive qualifier, booking their second straight World Cup appearance. Unlike 2022, when they qualified as hosts, this time the Maroons earned their spot on merit, showcasing their steady progress and experience on the continental stage.

Jordan

Jordan made history by qualifying for their first-ever World Cup, an achievement four decades in the making. Their remarkable journey from underdogs to global debutants embodies the determination and growth of football in the Arab world.

For millions of fans across the Arab world, the upcoming tournament promises to be more than just a competition; it will be a celebration of shared heritage, passion, and footballing excellence.
