Morocco teenager Abdellah Ouazane scores first Ajax goal in Heerenveen draw

Moroccan youth international Abdellah Ouazane scored his first senior goal for Ajax as the Dutch giants were held to a 2-2 draw by Heerenveen in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

The 17-year-old midfielder started his second consecutive league match and produced a memorable moment in the 33rd minute, doubling Ajax’s lead with a superb long-range strike into the top corner.

Ouazane’s goal was an important milestone for the Moroccan youngster as he continues to establish himself in Ajax’s senior side.

Ouazane produces stunning strike

Ajax took the lead after only seven minutes when Heerenveen goalkeeper Bernt Klaverboer turned the ball into his own net.

Ouazane then doubled the hosts’ advantage 26 minutes later, picking up the ball before unleashing an impressive effort from distance that flew into the top corner.

The goal capped a strong individual display from the teenager and justified the growing confidence shown in him by Ajax’s coaching staff.

However, Ajax were unable to hold on to their two-goal advantage.

Jacob Trenskow pulled one back for Heerenveen shortly before half-time before substitute Maxence Rivera completed the comeback with an 82nd-minute equaliser.

Moroccan youngster earns Ajax trust

Ouazane’s emergence is being closely followed in Morocco, with the midfielder regarded as one of the country’s promising young talents.

He joined Ajax’s youth academy in 2016 and progressed through the club’s development system before signing a professional contract through 2028.

The Moroccan had been linked with a move to Real Madrid in 2025, but that proposed transfer collapsed and he subsequently recommitted his future to Ajax.

His performances for Jong Ajax and during pre-season convinced the club’s technical staff to promote him directly into the first-team squad for the 2026-27 campaign.

First senior goal caps rapid rise

Sunday’s goal came on a significant occasion for Ajax, who were celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Although Heerenveen’s late equaliser denied Ajax victory, Ouazane’s performance provided the home supporters with a glimpse of the teenager’s potential.

With two consecutive starts already under his belt and his first senior goal now secured, the Moroccan midfielder will hope to continue developing his role in the Ajax first team.
