Following the clashes that occurred in April before a championship match between Raja Casablanca and FAR Rabat, where several hundred supporters engaged in violence around the stadium, Moroccan justice has handed down sentences. The troublemakers have been sentenced to 3 years in prison. Out of the 134 people accused, only 3 were acquitted, and 17 received sentences ranging from 6 months to 3 years in prison. This marks the first time that many supporters have been prosecuted for football-related violence in Morocco. In response to such incidents, Morocco’s parliament is considering passing a law to increase penalties for stadium violence to up to five years in prison.
