Moroccan youngster Ayoub Chaikhoun set for Nuremberg exit after fresh omission
Moroccan midfielder Ayoub Chaikhoun appears increasingly likely to leave 1. FC Nürnberg after being left out of the squad for a second consecutive pre-season friendly.
The 20-year-old was absent as Nürnberg thrashed TSV Kornburg 10-0 and was also omitted from the squad that defeated SpVgg Ansbach 5-1, despite continuing to train with the club’s first team.
The repeated omissions have intensified speculation over Chaikhoun’s future ahead of the new season.
Reports claim Klose no longer has midfielder in his plans
According to German newspaper Bild, Nürnberg head coach Miroslav Klose no longer intends to include Chaikhoun in his long-term plans following a reported disagreement between the pair last season.
While the club has not publicly commented on the situation, the player’s representative declined to dismiss the reports.
“Everyone can draw their own conclusions right now; I have nothing more to say on the matter,” Chaikhoun’s agent, Mo Amami, said.
Summer move expected
Bild reports that Chaikhoun is expected to leave Nürnberg during the current transfer window, although it remains unclear whether the move will be a permanent transfer or a loan.
The report adds that the Moroccan youngster has attracted interest from clubs across Germany’s top three divisions, while a move abroad is also said to be a possibility.
A departure would offer Chaikhoun the opportunity for regular first-team football as he looks to continue his development after finding opportunities limited at Nürnberg.
The coming weeks are expected to determine the next destination for one of Morocco’s emerging young midfield prospects as the summer transfer window gathers momentum.
