Sixteen-year-old Moroccan forward Ziyad Baha has officially joined Olympique Marseille, confirming a transfer that had been in the works for several weeks.
The highly rated attacker, son of former Morocco international Nabil Baha (20 caps), arrives after spells at Malaga and Real Betis and will now open a new chapter in his development on the French Mediterranean coast.
Baha is already well known to Moroccan fans. He helped the Atlas Cubs win the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring four goals in the tournament under the guidance of his father, who coaches the national U-17 side. He then repeated that form at the U17 World Cup, again netting four times and playing a key role in Morocco’s impressive run, confirming his status as one of the brightest prospects of his generation.
On Instagram, Baha described his move to OM as a carefully considered step, explaining that he chose to leave Betis despite the option to stay because he felt Marseille offered a path that better matched his ambitions and growth as a footballer. He spoke of a “new stage” that has already seen him training with OM for a month, and stressed that his focus is on hard work, consistency and discipline, insisting these values will speak louder than words.
The young striker benefits from close support from his father, who constantly reminds him to stay humble and committed.
Marseille, for their part, view his signing as part of a wider strategy to integrate top talents into their academy structure, hoping Baha can soon knock on the door of the first team and follow the club’s “Droit au But” attacking tradition.
