Moroccan teenager Yahya Iguiz nets debut goal for Raja Casablanca in IR Tanger win

Seventeen-year-old Yahya Yahya Iguiz could hardly have scripted a better introduction to senior football after scoring on his first appearance for Raja’s first team against Ittihad Tanger.

Introduced during the match, the teenage forward wasted little time in making an impact, finding the back of the net just minutes after stepping onto the pitch.

His composed finish sparked excitement among Raja supporters, who quickly recognised the significance of the moment.

At 17, Yahya Iguiz was the youngest player involved in the encounter, underlining the magnitude of his achievement.

The young attacker is a product of Raja’s academy, having progressed through every age category of the Green Eagles.

On November 5 of last year, the club rewarded his development by handing him his first professional contract, a three-year deal that signalled their confidence in his potential.

After signing the contract, Yahya Iguiz commented, “I want to thank everyone at Raja Club, from the coaches to the management, for the trust they have placed in me with this first professional contract.”

He added on his personal Instagram account: “This is an important step in my football career and I am committed to doing my best to achieve the goals and ambitions we look forward to.”

His rise has been backed by remarkable numbers in the youth ranks. During the 2023-2024 season, Ighuiz featured in 27 matches, scoring 30 goals and providing 15 assists. The following campaign proved equally impressive, as he netted 30 times and registered 12 assists in 22 appearances. His performances have also earned him a place with Morocco’s under-17 national team, further highlighting his growing reputation.

With a debut goal already to his name, Yahya Ighuiz appears poised to become one of Raja’s most exciting emerging talents.
