Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab have received a timely boost with the return of Moroccan international Abderrazak Hamdallah, who has resumed full group training after overcoming a lengthy injury layoff.
The 35-year-old forward has successfully completed his treatment and rehabilitation programme following a hamstring injury sustained during Al-Shabab’s Gulf Champions League group-stage encounter against Al Rayyan on December 23.
The setback sidelined Hamdallah for an extended period and significantly limited his involvement this season.
As a result of the injury, Hamdallah was ruled out for 42 days, missing ten consecutive matches in the Saudi Roshan League.
His absence has been keenly felt, with the experienced striker featuring in only four of Al-Shabab’s 19 league matches so far this campaign.
Hamdallah’s return comes at a crucial time for the club, offering both a psychological and technical lift to the coaching staff as they prepare for an important league fixture against Al-Kholoud on Saturday.
The match forms part of the 21st round of the season, with Al-Shabab eager to respond after suffering a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture.
The encounter will take place at Al-Hazm Club Stadium in Al-Rass and carries added significance in the battle to steer clear of the relegation zone.
Al-Shabab head into the clash sitting 13th on the table with 19 points, while Al-Kholoud are just one place below in 14th with 16 points, setting the stage for a tightly contested showdown.
