Moroccan outfit Union Touarga part ways with coach Abdelwahed Zemrat

Moroccan outfit Union Touarga Sport have announced the termination of the contract of first-team head coach Abdelwahed Zemrat, following an agreement between both parties after the coach tendered his resignation earlier in the season.

The club’s board of directors, Union Touarga confirmed that Zemrat had initially submitted his resignation immediately after the eighth round of the Botola Pro.

However, in the interest of maintaining stability within the team during a crucial period of the campaign, Zemrat continued to carry out his duties as head coach until the end of the first half of the season. The club explained that his decision to remain temporarily in charge demonstrated his commitment to the club’s interests and ensured continuity within the squad.

After completing that period, the club’s management ultimately decided that it was the right time to officially relieve the coach of his responsibilities on the bench.

Despite the change in leadership, Union Touarga emphasized that Zemrat remains an important figure within the club’s structure. The statement revealed that the national coach has been granted a period of rest in recognition of the efforts and dedication he displayed during his time leading the team.

Following this break, Zemrat is expected to return to the club in a different capacity. The management plans to entrust him with technical responsibilities related to player development and training—areas where his experience and expertise can contribute to the club’s long-term sporting project.

Alongside the announcement of Zemrat’s departure, the board confirmed the appointment of Mimoun Mokhtari as the new head coach of the first team.

The club indicated that Mokhtari’s promotion was a carefully considered decision aimed at ensuring stability and continuity within the squad. His familiarity with the team and the club’s philosophy played a key role in the choice.

Mokhtari has been part of the first-team technical staff for the past two seasons, giving him a deep understanding of the players, tactical framework, and overall sporting vision of Union Touarga.

In addition to his work within the club, the new coach also brings valuable experience from previous coaching roles in both Morocco and Belgium, experience that the management believes will help guide the team through the remainder of the season.

Union Touarga concluded its statement by expressing sincere appreciation to Zemrat for his service and dedication, acknowledging the work he carried out during his tenure.

The club also extended its best wishes to him for success in his future roles while expressing full confidence in Mokhtari’s ability to lead the team and continue building on the club’s sporting ambitions.
