Moroccan outfit Mouloudia Oujda in advanced talks with coach Abdelrahim Saidi
Moroccan club Mouloudia Oujda have entered advanced negotiations with experienced coach Abdelrahim Saidi over his appointment as the club’s new head coach ahead of the upcoming season.
Saidi is being lined up to take charge of the first team as the club seeks to begin preparations for the new campaign with a new technical leadership in place.
According to reports, Saidi travelled to Oujda to hold direct talks with officials of the club. The first meeting took place at the club’s offices in Saidia on Monday, but the two parties were unable to reach a final agreement over the terms of his potential contract.
Negotiations continued on Tuesday, with Saidi and Mouloudia Oujda officials holding a second meeting in an attempt to resolve the remaining issues and complete the agreement.
However, some points of disagreement remain, meaning the Moroccan coach has yet to officially put pen to paper.
Financial demands do not appear to be the major stumbling block in the negotiations. Saidi has reportedly shown flexibility over some of his financial requirements, but he is insisting on having sufficient technical authority, particularly the right to select his own members of the coaching staff.
That demand has become one of the key issues still being discussed between the two sides, with further negotiations expected as they attempt to find common ground.
Despite the lack of a final agreement, talks remain open and there is still optimism that the outstanding points can be resolved. If an agreement is reached, Saidi could be officially announced as Mouloudia Oujda’s new head coach in the coming hours.
The club is keen to settle the coaching situation as quickly as possible in order to give the new technical team enough time to prepare for the upcoming season.
Saidi arrives as a coach with considerable experience in Moroccan football and has built a reputation through his work in the national championship.
He enjoyed positive spells with Chabab Ben Guerir, where he produced encouraging results and strengthened his standing as one of the country’s coaches to watch.
The Moroccan coach also took charge of Olympique Dcheira in the top professional division last season. However, his time with the club eventually came to an end, with his assistant Mourad Raji taking over the team following his departure.
Raji was subsequently succeeded by Bouchaib El Moubarki.
Mouloudia Oujda are now hoping to avoid further delays in their search for a new coach. The club’s supporters are eager for the appointment to be finalised so that preparations for the new campaign can begin in earnest.
With negotiations with Saidi already at an advanced stage, the coming hours could prove decisive in determining whether the experienced coach takes charge of the Sons of the East for the upcoming season.
